A church in the City.
A family at its heart.

Faith brings us together.
A living history.
A continuing welcome.
From modest chapels to a home in Eldon Street, the story of St Mary Moorfields is one of faith carried forward by generations of Londoners.
- 17th–18th centuries
Faith takes root
The parish traces its beginnings to Catholic chapels in the surrounding neighbourhood, long before the present church was built.
- 1820
A new church for Moorfields
The first St Mary Moorfields opened near Finsbury Circus, designed by John Newman.
- 1850–1869
A place in Westminster’s story
The earlier church served as the pro-cathedral of the Archdiocese of Westminster.
- 25 March 1903
A new home in Eldon Street
After the earlier building was demolished in 1899, the present church opened to designs by George Sherrin.
Traces of the past, still with us.
The sanctuary’s six marble columns and the marble font were brought from the earlier church: tangible links between the two homes of the parish.
